IEC 60812

The international standard IEC 60812 was developed by technical committee 56: Reliability of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).

The standard describes how an FMEA is conducted. Examples of applications in the fields of safety, motor vehicles, software, and (service) processes are provided here. The amendment of FMEA for various applications and various report formats, including a database information system, are also described. Furthermore, alternative methods of calculating risk priority numbers (RPN) are shown. A method based on a criticality matrix and the relationship to other reliability analysis methods are described.
