Likelihood of occurrence

With the value Occurrence (O), the likelihood of the occurrence of a failure cause is evaluated in FMEA while taking into account the corresponding prevention action (n).

The O value thus represents the evaluation of the effectiveness of the prevention action (n). A scale from 1 to 10 is available for this. The evaluation takes place using specified evaluation criteria. These are, among other things, shown in the FMEA Handbook from AIAG and VDA. This must involve subjective assessments by experts. As a result, this evaluation cannot guarantee that the assessment is actually always correct and reliable.
